The why of Faith

You know, I’ve been thinking alot lately. I’ve been thinking about why. Why do so many people believe in a higher being? My previous conclusion was that 90% of the world population must have been plain stupid. But it’s plain stupid to think such a thing. Again, there’s logic. Why didn’t I see it before? Mankind is like a pack of lions. There’s one leader and all obey. If the leader falls and not succeeded by another there will be chaos and anarchy until a new leader has been chosen. For lions it’s simple. They obey the leader and the leader makes the calls based upon his knowledge and instinct. But what about us? Up to a certain point it’s all the same. The people all obey and trust upon one leader, but this is where the similarities end. This leader has his leader together with other leaders of other groups of people. That leader has his own leader and so on. We have a chain of command. It works really well until you start reaching the top of the chain. The few have total control over the many. This is really dangerous. So these people need to have a leader who can keep them from doing something wrong. Now we’ve got a problem. We’re already at the top of the chain and there’s no one to lead them. This is where faith comes in handy. It’s a brilliant system of deceit and lies to keep the society up and running. Different forms of faith have been created around the globe but they basically all do the same thing. All of them made up by the brightest people in the country who knew a large society will fall into chaos without proper control. They have started a faith, managed to spread it trough stories of heroism and saved society from anarchy.

The first thing faith has done for society is keeping those with political or militairy power from acts of violence or self enrichment. It didn’t work all of the time, some even managed to use faith for their own cause, but most of the time it worked. This way a stable chain of command could be realized. The next thing faith has done is keeping the people from commiting crimes. This has worked really well and the act of sin still remains today as something you shouldn’t do. Finally faith gave people hope and a goal for their lives. This way society could grow into what it is today. Without faith mankind would still be a bunch of fighting apes.

How this faith thing works? It’s really simple. All of the faiths have a god, a divine power or some other goal in life. The main effect this has to generate is fear. Fear for what happens if you disobey the rules of this mighty force. Usually you would be doomed to eternal pain or just a lower form of life afer you die. No one wants this of course so they all just obey the rules, just like the creator of this faith had planned. The hope part is created by it’s counterpart, heaven, nirwana, however you want to call it. It’s the ultimate goal a human being can have. It’s all you ever wanted. This is a lie of course but we all just believe it’s true because when you don’t you’ll get the fear treatment.

Back in the days only the brightest people in the country created faith because they knew about the risks of a faithless society. They all followed a few basic steps. First, look at the folklore. What do the people already believe? Usually “stupid” people think up alot of different reasons why things happen they can’t explain. Use these things and answer the questions by filling it up with your god, energy or whatever. People will become sceptic for a new faith. They want proof. Tell them a good story about people dying and a hero saving people and they’ll all think it has really happened. Write it down and use your writings as your proof. People usually instantly believe anything that’s written. They still do, just look at the newspapers. There, now you’ve created your own faith. If your story is good and some people are stupid enough to buy it it’ll spread like wildfire and soon you religion is a major part of society. In reality it’s a little more complex but these are the basics. This is how every major religion has started and you’ll find these aspects an any religion you’ll find. Now you know how to make your own homebrew religion. The only ingredient you need now is a bunch of desperate people looking for something to hold on to. Poverty, war, anarchism, suppression, things like that usually create the ideal breeding grounds for a new religion. Troughout history people have misused the homebrew religion idea to create a religion not to help the people but to use them to fulfill their own ideal society. Of course the ideas about the ideal society differ. But you can’t deny the nazi regime was a bad way to run a society. The nazis have used the post WO I Germany as a breeding ground for their own pseudo religion. Hitler was both brilliant and sick. We all know what happened next.

Now you can see why I don’t approve religion. But at the same time I applaud it for giving us our stable society. Religion is a dangerous weapon and a wonderful tool. I know more people have got this knowledge, also alot of wrong people. We need religion to keep the common people from chaos but we need to stop the religious fanatics who are using religion for their own cuase. This job can only be done by those who are above the common folk and have understanding. We don’t have a big army like the religionists have. The only weapon of mass destruction we have is in our heads. Our words will hit harder than any bullet can. The religions aren’t the problem but the religionists are, the people who misuse religion. If we can wake up the people and let them see it’s wrong to kill their neighbours we’ve won the war already. Don’t worry about atheism being a threat for the stability religions have brought us. The people who are stupid enough to start looting and start an anarchy will stick to their religion, it’s the easiest way for them to get things straight in their little minds. THere will be always two kind of people: the lower class, the majority nower days, who actually believe the religious lies and the higher class who have learned it’s all a lie and live a good life without the need of false fears or hopes.

I hope you will be part of the free people or closer to freedom after reading this.

Some people asked me what kind of music I like. They seem to think they can judge character by their choice of music. I only partially agree. You can guess a person’s social environment and thus a part of the character. Oh well, if you people want to know here’s my musical history.

I was a real kid before my tenth birthday. I liked a few songs I saw on tv, especially the ones with a funny video. I didn’t really care about the music. But when my parents liked music I had to hate it. It was simple back then. As I grew up I began de develop a certain taste for music not a lot of my friends shared with me. Actually, none. I must have been twelve I think, I was totally into grunge. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, that kind of music. It was way past it’s haydays but I preferred it over any other music that was polluting the radio. I even grew my own long grunge hair. I really stood out I think. I gradually moved from grunge to punk rock with bands like Green Day, The Exploited and NOFX. With my search for truth in humanity came the music I love today. Music that holds the expression of the maker’s soul together with a message for the public to learn from. It’s not just words but the the song as a whole that counts. Metal isn’t just the guys on stage with their guitars and loud voices. It might look wild and meaningless but it’s a product of human nature. It’s hard to tunnel raw human emotion into a song. Anger, hate, fear, love, name it. It’s all to be found within the dynamics of Metal. It’s a work of art. Metal is on the same level as the old classical masterpieces. Just listen to Black Water Park by Opeth or Metallica’s One and Bach’s work and you’ll hear what I mean. None of this is found in today’s pop music. It’s all about empty love, crime and every day life, with a few exceptions of course. The worst kind of noise imaginable is made by the people who usually have the initials “DJ” in their names. This computer generated junk is narrowing young people’s minds. Nothing to learn from it, no meaning, no message, no feeling, nothing. It’s just a simple melody with a loud beat people can dance to. And that’s all they (can) do. Dance. I don’t understand. Music is an artform, it’s not meant to be treated this way. But on the other hand you hardly can call that crap music. You can’t sit back and relax listening to this noise comparable with a million houses being built in front of your door while being bombarded with H-bombs and electric alarm clocks going off. It’s just nonsense. The worst thing is, the majority of the people like this kind of music. I don’t like rap music but in those songs they try to sing, whitch is entirely not the case with this noise. They had to find a name for it but they were too stupid and narrow minded to even think. So they just called it “Dance”. Oh, yeah, there are alot of different names like the place you dance in “House” and the louder version “Hard Style” and don’t forget the trendy dance “Tance”. Even the names of the different versions of noise make me question these people’s capability to think rationally.

Oh well, enough about the stuff of other people. I mentioned I listen to Metal these days. This is true but I also take a trip outside of my usual repertoire every once in a while. I listen to Rock and Roll from bands like Motorhead and Peter Pan Speedrock. I also listen to some Industrial blend people have made with Metal influences by bands like Fear Factory or Hanzel und Gretyl. I don’t mind some blues or classical music. What music I like to hear totally depends on my mood. When I feel angry or otherwise negative I listen to Death Metal bands, when I’m full of energy and happy I listen to Speed Metal and Rock. When I want to listen and enjoy the essence of Metal I listen to the bands I love including Opeth and Metallica. There are a lot more but I won’t write them all down because the list would get too long. Oh, Otep also gets it’s share of the fame in this post. She is simply amazing in her lyrics and poetry. Just read this. Some bands I listen to are christian in some way although I resent christianity. But this is just another nice thing about Metal. We can share our thoughts and feelings and walk away without hate but with understanding.

I wish all the people were this understanding.
